Sapphire Collective
Get to know Sapphire, the one-named designer behind the Sapphire Collective in Los Angeles, to create a green sapphire ring in 2015 that resembled a bud of marijuana dotted with little white diamonds for the THC — the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s effect — and rose gold for the hairs, or pistils. (A second version uses purple sapphires to evoke the hue of an Indica strain.) Take note.

You start an activity and develop a love for it, so you do it more often. Over time you improve and begin to experience positive results. You receive praise, recognition and rewards. Maybe without even realizing it, you start to become more passionate about the external validation you gain from doing the activity than the activity itself. Then something goes wrong.

A pink diamond from Namibia’s offshore drilling program fetched $17,000 per carat at a tender in Antwerp. The 5.71-carat stone fetched $97,076 at the sale, the first Diamond Fields Resources has held since resuming mining in 2018, it said last week. The company also sold 47,298 carats of high-quality white and colored rough stones for $1.1 million, it noted. It sold all the diamonds it offered at the tender. Diamond Fields recovered the stones between November and January, over the course of a 65-day period, it added.

Adamas Intelligence Report On Nickel
In January 2019, the Chinese market saw 253% more nickel deployed in passenger EV batteries than the same month the year prior, according to a model-by-model build-up using Adamas Intelligence’s ‘EV Battery Capacity and Battery Metals Tracker’. The accelerated deployment of battery nickel in China, due primarily to an ongoing shift from LFP to NCM 523/622 cathodes, has made China the largest market for passenger EV battery nickel, ahead of Japan and the U.S., which were the two largest markets in January 2018.
Moreover, in January 2019, the U.S. overtook Japan to become the second largest market for passenger EV battery nickel globally on the back of strong BEV sales in the U.S. relative to the Japanese market, which has traditionally been dominated by HEV sales. Take note.

Art And Medical Field
As disciplines, art history and medicine share important similarities: Both fields require close observation and some guesswork, attracting practitioners who love a good puzzle. Recently, the two have become even more intertwined. Medical schools around the US are increasingly incorporating art classes into their programming, and research shows that looking at artwork can help doctors improve their observation skills. This correlation might explain why some physicians have taken an interest in studying the lives and works of creative masters, aided by their special set of diagnostic skills. It makes sense.

Gillette Razor Recycling Program
To recycle the razors, people can sign up through Terracycle, a company known for recycling hard-to-recycle materials, and when they have a shipment ready, download a shipping label and send it in so the materials can be sterilized, shredded, and recycled into products like bike racks, park benches, and pet food bowls. The program also offers bins to gyms and other businesses that want to serve as drop-off points in neighborhoods, collecting old razors and packaging until the bins are full and can be returned to Terracycle via UPS (for this option, Gillette covers the cost of shipping). Customers who use Gillette’s subscription service can also now return old razors through their subscription box.
I hope Gillette start the program in India ASAP.

Chateaux Montelena
As Matt Crafton, Montelena's winemaker sees it, the business of Chateau Montelena hinges entirely on what ends up in the glass. “We’re real. There’s no oil money here. Every dollar comes from someone pulling a cork, so we have to think about making a delicious bottle.” That’s as opposed to marketing smoke and mirrors. “We’re not a hip, trendy brand,” he says. “But we don’t need to be. The DNA here is unique.” Spot on.

Microbreak
Microbreak is any brief activity that helps to break up the monotony of physically or mentally draining tasks. They can last anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes and involve anything from making a cup of tea to stretching or watching a music video. Though the breaks are tiny, they can have a disproportionately powerful impact – studies have shown that they can improve workers’ ability to concentrate, change the way they see their jobs, and even help them avoid the typical injuries that people get when they’re tied to their desks all day.
