We have a saying in Puerto Rico. The bus — la guagua — always comes for those who wait.
- Tony Bechara
I do it because I have to do it; it’s a compulsion that also gives me pleasure. I never in my life had any idea of money and I thought fame was a very vulgar thing. So I just worked and waited. And at the end of my life, I’m getting a lot of recognition, to my amazement and my pleasure, actually.

Art Market Update
The Economist report about the state of the contemporary art market was insightful. Collectors were chasing for the new new of everything and buying quality. Buyers in every sector of the art market now seem to follow a pattern. Stay tuned.

Gold Market Update
The Financial Times report on gold was interesting. So many constituencies are taking refuge in gold that its price surge is the symbol of the age: a store of anxiety as well as value. How will gold buyers be able to tell when the top of the market is about to arrive? After all, gold is almost impossible to value beyond the cost of production, which today stands way below the current price. Apart from jewelry and small industrial applications, such as in electronics, gold has no use other than as an investment. So true!

It is already known that the color of a drink can influence the way we taste it. We wanted to know whether background lighting, for example in a restaurant, makes a difference as well. The extreme lighting conditions found in some bars can undoubtedly influence the way a wine tastes. We thought it was simply that colours that people found agreeable would put them in an agreeable mood. However early tests seem to show that it is not as simple as that. We still believe however that it is something to do with the mood they put people in. For some reason some colors put people in a more positive mood.

Nine is a 2009 American musical film directed by Rob Marshall. I think 3-D movies could rejuvenate theatergoing/provide an immersive experience at a time when many consumers are growing comfortable watching content on DVDs. I hope Reliance ADA Group/In-Three Inc partnership works out well.

Haute Couture Week In Paris
At a time when shows are losing their luster, Chambre Syndicale's decision to marry haute couture and high jewelry via exclusivity (rarity) + technical know-how (creativity) could spin off a pleasant surprise. All the best.

Each bottle is a bit like one of my children: you see them go and you're always sad but at the same time they're going to make space for more, so it's a sad occasion but a happy one at the same time.

Internet Turns 40
December 5, 2009, marked the 40th anniversary of the day when the Defense Department's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) connected four computer nodes to create a network of networks that changed life as we know it. Larry Greenemeier/Vint Cerf interview in Scientifc American was an insightful insider's view of the Internet. Thanks Larry.

The mobile phone is a very nice platform for exploring new forms of musical performance. We're not tethered to the physics of traditional instruments. We can do interesting, weird, unusual things. This kind of technology is in its infancy, but it's a hot and growing area to use iPhones for artistic expression.
