Bansky Artwork
More than a decade after he stuck a fake artwork to the wall of one of its galleries, Banksy has officially joined the collection of the British Museum for the first time. The museum has acquired its first work by the anonymous graffiti artist, a fake £10 banknote depicting Diana, Princess of Wales, which will join its collection of coins, medals and other currency.
The work, entitled Di-faced Tenner, was one of thousands of copies produced by the artist in 2004 as part of a planned art stunt. Unlike the other artwork, a fake cave painting on concrete, which was loaned again to the museum for a recent exhibition on dissent and protest, the note has been donated to the museum by the artist’s representative Pest Control.

LVMH Surprise
LVMH—the French luxury behemoth that owns the namesake bag brand in addition to other high-end labels like Fendi, Celine, Dior, and Givenchy— has announced their 2018 financial results. Most notably, the company pulled in a record €46.8 billion, or around $53.4 billion, in sales revenue over the past twelve months, a 10 percent increase over the previous year.

Powerstrip Studio’s Dayna Lee—a film-set art director who worked on Boogie Nights and Dances with Wolves—set the vision for the boutique property, which is brimming with carefully curated works that expose guests to up-and-coming artists from the UK and beyond. Some of the commissioned works incorporated in Bankside range from ceramicist Laura Carlin’s tiled murals to Malgorzata Bany’s side tables, which were inspired by architectural columns. The Galvin Brothers brought large, communal wooden tables to life around the hotel, which furthers its intention to become a dynamic coworking space for a creative hub. But Bankside is as equal part play as it is work, thanks to Timorous Beasties, who was tasked with creating a textured backdrop for one of the hotel’s statement pieces—a leather and metal rocking horse. The Next Big Trend In Luxury Beauty
Riding the wave of the cannabis craze hitting the beauty industry, luxury retailers are taking note and feeding the demands with upscale products for its cliental.
Dallas-based luxury retailer Neiman Marcus is the latest to hop on board the CBD train with the announcement that it will now offer a range of high-end balms, lotions, soaps, oils, serums, and masks from brands including Sagely Naturals, Cannuka, Cannabliss Organic, Code of Harmony, and Ildi Pekar.
Other retailers to follow suit on the high-end CBD spectrum include Sephora, Net-a-porter, and Goop.

In India, Ritesh Agarwal is something of a household name. The 25-year-old tech star is founder and CEO of the country's largest hospitality chain, OYO, and, as of last year, its youngest major self-made entrepreneur, worth an estimated $365 million.

Mouawad Dragon
Mouawad has manufactured a 54.21-carat polished yellow stone, which, it claims, is the largest of its shape and color the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has ever graded.
The company named the round brilliant-cut, fancy-vivid-yellow stone the Mouawad Dragon, as its color is reminiscent of a dragon’s magical powers and fiery eyes.
The rough stone was found in an alluvial deposit in South Africa, and took Mouawad six months to cut and polish. The jeweler, which manufactures its rough in South Africa, New York and Bangkok, will set the stone in a necklace that will be part of an ensemble. The entire collection will be unveiled in March, 2019.

But what exactly is stupidity? David Krakauer, the President of the Santa Fe Institute, told interviewer Steve Paulson, for Nautilus, stupidity is not simply the opposite of intelligence. “Stupidity is using a rule where adding more data doesn’t improve your chances of getting [a problem] right,” Krakauer said. “In fact, it makes it more likely you’ll get it wrong.” Intelligence, on the other hand, is using a rule that allows you to solve complex problems with simple, elegant solutions. “Stupidity is a very interesting class of phenomena in human history, and it has to do with rule systems that have made it harder for us to arrive at the truth,” he said. “It’s an interesting fact that, whilst there are numerous individuals who study intelligence—there are whole departments that are interested in it—if you were to ask yourself what’s the greatest problem facing the world today, I would say it would be stupidity. So we should have professors of stupidity—it would just be embarrassing to be called the stupid professor.”

The London Observer looked at Harvard Business School professor Shoshana Zuboff’s new book, the title of which perfectly describes the deep dark waters we’ve entered: “The Age of Surveillance Capital.”
“Surveillance capitalism,” Zuboff wrote, “unilaterally claims human experience as free raw material for translation into behavioral data. Although some of these data are applied to service improvement, the rest are declared as a proprietary behavioral surplus, fed into advanced manufacturing processes known as ‘machine intelligence,’ and fabricated into prediction products that anticipate what you will do now, soon and later. Finally, these prediction products are traded in a new kind of marketplace that I call behavioural futures markets. Surveillance capitalists have grown immensely wealthy from these trading operations, for many companies are willing to lay bets on our future behavior.”

Lucara Recovers A 240 Carat Rough Diamond At Karowe
Lucara Diamond Corp. has recovered a 240-carat, top-white rough stone from the high-value portion of its Karowe mine in Botswana, it said Monday.
The diamond is the second weighing more than 100 carats the company has found this year, after it unearthed a 127-carat stone earlier this month. Lucara will put both diamonds up for tender in March, along with other large stones it has found at the mine.
Alrosa Recovers Its Largest Diamond
Alrosa has unearthed a rough stone weighing nearly 200 carats from its Udachnaya pipe, its largest in more than two years, the company said Tuesday.
The 191.46-carat stone, which is white with a slight yellowish tinge, was found earlier this month at the asset’s N12 processing plant. The Russia-based miner last found a comparably sized diamond two and a half years ago.
