Surface Water And Ocean Topography

The satellite will measure water on more than 90 percent of Earth's surface. The data will help scientists better understand the role oceans play in climate change, the effect of global warming on bodies of water and how people can prepare for natural disasters.

The James Webb Space Telescope

Final checks and fuelling are underway for the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope, a flagship mission for NASA that aims to observe worlds beyond the solar system and the first stars and galaxies that lit up the cosmos. If all goes to plan, the US$10 billion observatory will become the largest and most powerful telescope ever sent into space. Wish them good luck. Stay curious.

NASA's Lucy Mission To Jupiter's Trojan Asteroids

A NASA spacecraft named Lucy has rocketed into the sky with diamonds on a 12 year quest to explore eight asteroids. Seven of the mysterious space rocks are among swarms of asteroids sharing Jupiter's orbit, thought to be the pristine leftovers of planetary formation. Stay curious.

Moon - False Color Mosaic

The color mosaic shows compositional variations in parts of the Moon's northern hemisphere. To me it looks like a giant opal with peculiar surface features. Truly stunning.

Tracking Ocean Microplastics From Space

The researchers from the University of Michigan using NASA's Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (a network of eight microsatellites) have been able to detect and track large quantities of microplastics across the ocean's surface. I hope the research will help responsible cleanup activities and be part of an efficient tracking and managing microplastic pollution.

Asteroid 16 Psyche

There's a rare asteroid orbiting between Mars and Jupiter, and it's worth an estimated US$10000 quadrillion. The rarity known as 16 Psyche, was discovered in 1852, but NASA's Hubble Telescope has finally given us a closer look. The new study indicates that asteroid's composition is key to its astronomical value. Take a look.
