Petra Diamonds Ltd has sold the exceptional Type IIb blue diamond weighing 39.3 carats for more than US$40 million. The diamond fetched just over US$1 million per carat and is the most expensive diamond Petra has ever sold. The diamond was sold to a joint venture between De Beers and Diacore. Take a look again.

Lucapa Recovers 144-carat Rough Diamond
Lucapa Diamond Company has recovered a 144-carat rough diamond from its Lulo alluvial mine in Angola. The company found the D-color, type IIa rough diamond at the site's Mining Block 08, a section of the deposit known for its large, high-value rough diamonds. The rough diamond is the 6th over 100 carats Lucapa has found at Lulo this year, and the 23rd of that magnitude from the site since mining operations began.

Sputnik V Diamond
Alrosa has named a 100-carat light yellow diamond after Russia's COVID-19 vaccine. The diamond is a 100.53 carat flattened octahedron recovered from alluvial deposits in Yakutia. Last September, Sputnik V became the world's first approved coronavirus vaccine. It takes its name from the first Soviet space satellite, launched into space in 1957.

Lucapa Recovers 127 Carat Diamond
Lucapa Diamond Company has unearthed a 127 carat rough diamond from the newly mined floodplain area of its Lulo deposit in Angola. The company found the gem quality diamond in mining block 24 of the Leziria floodplains, an area it began mining in the fourth quarter of the year. Take a look.
