A New Method For Determining Gem Tourmaline Species By LA-ICP-MS
Simple gemological tests to separate various species and their varieties in the tourmaline group is difficult. LA-ICP-MS is beyond the reach of most gem testing laboratories in the world. Only a few gem testing laboratories like the GIA can afford and research known gem materials. So hats off to the GIA for sharing the research report.
