Fifty slightly shifted triangles are etched into the metal dial. Each triangle is engraved individually by dragging a sharp tool across the surface. -

After engraving, the dial is sandblasted and then hand-polished to control the level of reflection. It creates a shifting sense of depth as light hits the surface.
