Gem Market News

According to gem dealers based in Bangkok, glass-filled rubies processed in Thailand are sold in Burma (Rangoon/Taunggyi) as African ruby. Furthermore, heat-treated flame-fusion rubies are also sold as natural. An amazing twist of fate. Active gem markets in Mogok include the Garden Gem Market, Le-U, Mogok Cinema, Mintado and Kyatpyin Cinema. If in doubt, always consult a reputed gem testing laboratory.

Gemstone Treatments

A word of caution! Dyed grossular garnets are being sold as rubies in South Asia/Southeast Asia. If in doubt, always consult a reputed gem testing laboratory.
