Established in 1969 by Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru, the Miyagikyo Distillery was deliberately located in a Miyagi prefecture valley to contrast sharply with his original Yoichi distillery in both environment and production style. The resulting Miyagikyo single malt whiskies are celebrated for their elegant, fruity profile and delicate mouthfeel. Crafted from a blend of lightly peated and non-peated malted barley, these expressions achieve their signature character through distillation in pot stills heated by indirect steam.
