The Enigma Fancy Black Diamond

Diego y yo

A self-portrait by Frida Kahlo that had been held in a private collection for 30 years has been sold for a record-setting US$34.9 million (including fees) at Sotheby's in New York. The painting, Diego y yo (1949) depicts the artist gazing tearfully at the viewer; superimposed on her forehead is an image of her husband, the muralist Diego Rivera, who himself has a third eye.

The exhibition, Brilliant & Black: A Jewelry Renaissance, will take place live in New York from September 17-26, 2021, with the pieces available for immediate purchase in-person.

Sculpture To Wear

The Sculpture to Wear selling exhibition, set to take place August 3-28, 2021, will include 80 rare pieces created by more than 28 painters, sculptors and photographers. Curated by Louisa Guinness of the Louisa Guinness  Gallery in London and Tiffany Dubin of Sotheby's New York's fashion division, the pop-up will offer a rare opportunity for collectors to get their hands on wearable, and significantly more portable works of art.

This Changed Everything: Source Code For WWW

Sir Tim Berners-Lee will be selling an NFT, representing the source code of the world wide web at Sotheby's. This is so new, so unusual, we will have to wait and see for the results. This Changed Everything will go on sale on June 23, 2021, for a week, with bids starting at US$1000. There is no estimated sale price.
