Lucara Names Epic 2488 Carat And 1094 Carat Diamonds

Lucara Diamond Corp has announced the winning name of the epic 2488 carat diamond, recovered in August 2024, and for the 1094 carat diamond, recovered in September 2024. The 2488 carat diamond has been named Motswedi, which in Setswana, the local language in Botswana, means a water spring or the flow of underground water that emerges to the surface offering life and vitality. The 1094 carat diamond has been named Seriti, which means aura or presence in Setswana and has deep cultural significance related to identity and legacy.

Lucara Pink Boitumelo Diamond

Lucara Diamond has recovered a huge fancy pink Type IIa diamond---weighing 62.7 carats---from its Karaowe mine, in Botswana. It was recovered from direct milling of ore sourced from the EM/PK (S) unit of the mine's South Lobe, along with three other large fancy pink diamonds of similar quality---weighing 22.1 carats, 11.17 carats and 5.05 carats. The largest of the four stones has been named Boitumelo, which means Joy in Setswana, the native language of Botswana. Take a look.

Diamond Mine-To-Retail Traceability

Sarine Technologies has expanded its collaboration with Lucara Diamond Corporation to include provenance traceability for all diamonds listed on the miner's rough sales platform. For those customers who have subscribed to the Sarine Diamond Journey, this will create a verifiable origin certificate of each rough stone's source that will service as the initial reference for the diamond's provenance record.

Lucara Recovers A 240 Carat Rough Diamond At Karowe

Lucara Diamond Corp. has recovered a 240-carat, top-white rough stone from the high-value portion of its Karowe mine in Botswana, it said Monday. 

The diamond is the second weighing more than 100 carats the company has found this year, after it unearthed a 127-carat stone earlier this month. Lucara will put both diamonds up for tender in March, along with other large stones it has found at the mine.
