Leafsnap is an electronic guide app developed by Columbia University, the Univeristy of Maryland and the Smithsonian Institution. The app has several functions. First, it can be used to identify plants with its visual recognition software. Secondly, scientists can learn about the ebb and flow of flora from geotagged images taken by app users.
