18kt Gold PSTM Myanmar Fish Cluster On Cord – Pippa Small

Discover the 18kt Gold PSTM Myanmar Fish Cluster by Pippa Small, crafted by master goldsmith Ko Tin Win in Yangon. Inspired by Shan silverfish traditions from Lake Inle, each handmade piece tells a story of Myanmar’s culture and skill.

  • Around Lake Inle, Myanmar, the Shan people have a long tradition of making articulated silver fish jewelry.

  • These playful, handmade designs are worn by both men and women, often in pairs.

  • The Turquoise Mountain workshop in Yangon has reimagined this tradition in gold for Pippa Small’s collection.

A School of Golden Fish

  • The designs feature needlefish, catfish, and large mythical fish.

  • Each piece shows the precision and skill of Myanmar’s goldsmiths.

  • This year has been difficult for Myanmar, but the artisans continue to create exceptional work.

Meet Ko Tin Win

  • Ko Tin Win was born on Ramree Island in Rakhine State.

  • His family encouraged him to become a goldsmith from an early age.

  • In 1996, he moved to Yangon to study under master goldsmith U Kyaw Than.

His Philosophy

  • He focuses on form, structure, beauty, and function in each design.

  • “You need to think and make. Brain and hands.”
