Gem Diamonds Recovers 123.5 Carats Rough Diamond

Gem Diamonds has recovered a diamond weighing 123.5 carats, its third white stone over 100 carats this year, and its second this month. 

It found the high-quality, type II stone at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho on July 20. The miner also unearthed a 140-carat white diamond from the deposit on July 6, and a 161-carat stone in March. 

In total, the company has retrieved five stones weighing more than 100 carats this year. It found a 134-carat stone in March, and another weighing 135 carats last month. Last year, Gem Diamonds recovered a total of 15 high-quality rough diamonds over 100 carats.

Gem Diamonds Recovers 140 Carat Rough Diamond

Gem Diamonds has recovered a white diamond weighing 140 carats, the second over 100 carats it has reported this year. 

It found the high-quality stone on July 6 at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the company said Monday. In March, it found a 161-carat white diamond at the deposit. 

The miner recently recovered two yellow diamonds from Letšeng weighing more than 100 carats. It retrieved a 134-carat stone  in March, and another weighing 135-carats last month. 

So far this year, Gem Diamonds has recovered four diamonds over 100 carats. In 2018, it unearthed a total of 15.

Gem Diamonds Finds 135 Carat Yellow Diamond

Gem Diamonds has recovered a 135-carat yellow at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the third significant colored-diamond discovery at the deposit this year. 

The company retrieved the high-quality, type I stone on June 21, three months after the mine yielded a similar quality yellow diamond weighing 134 carats. Those discoveries follow a two-year gap in the recovery of yellow diamonds weighing more than 100 carats from Letšeng. In June 2017, the miner found a 151.52-carat yellow. 

Gem Diamonds also unearthed a 13.33-carat pink diamond in February, which it sold to Graff the following month for $8.8 million, or $656,933 per carat. In 2018, the company mined a record 15 stones weighing more than 100 carats. Simply lucky.

Gem Diamonds Finds A 134 Carat Yellow Diamond

Gem Diamonds has found a 134-carat yellow, the second significant colored diamond it has found this year. It discovered the high-quality, type I stone on March 31 at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the company said Sunday. The last yellow-diamond of that magnitude the miner reported on was a 151.52-carat stone, which it retrieved in June 2017. In March, Gem Diamonds sold a pink stone weighing 13.33 carats to Graff for $8.8 million. The company, which is renowned for the discovery of large diamonds from Letšeng, recovered a white, type IIa diamond from the deposit last week. Pink Diamond Sold

Gem Diamonds has sold a 13.33 carat pink diamond recovered at its flagship Letšeng mine in Lesotho last month for $8.8 million. The high-quality pink colour type I diamond sold at a tender in Antwerp, Belgium, achieving a record price per carat of almost $657,000.

Gem Diamonds Recovers A Pink Diamond

Gem Diamonds has recovered a high-quality, 13.33-carat pink diamond in Lesotho. 

The type I diamond was unearthed earlier this month at its Letšeng mine, and is the first stone above 10.8 carats the company has reported this year. It is the largest pink diamond the miner has recovered since 2011, when it retrieved a 30.68-carat stone. In December it found a pink stone weighing 8.53 carats. Many thanks to Rapaport.
