Urban Sun

Studio Roosegaarde's project, called Urban Sun, is a light fixture designed for public spaces which can safely clean up to 99.9% of the coronavirus by emitting far-UVC light at a specific wavelength (222 nanometers) that early research shows can deactivate viruses without harming humans.

Take COVID-19 seriously. Put people before business. Business will come back. People don't come back. Really.

In The Uncertainties Of Lyme Testing, Lessons For Covid-19

Carrie Arnold was spot on. Science has learned a lot, but it still needs to learn a vast amount more. Learn to treat the patient, not the test. Sadly diagnostics aren't perfect.

Science is usually a piecemeal process until the mosaic reveals the full picture. No one can say for sure how much riskier 3 feet is than 6 feet. And while evidence is accumulating that COVID-19 virus travels farther, no one can say for sure how quickly the risk drops. Even once the risks are better understood with time, acceptable risk is a value judgement. The truth is we don't have a lot of experience with COVID-19 virus. We're learning as we go along.

It is finally time to talk, in this pandemic, about the importance of not talking in this pandemic. Every route of viral transmission would go down if we talked less, or talked less loudly, in public spaces. This is just a very clear fact. It's not controversial. Silence is golden as an antiviral strategy because of how this disease spreads.

Here is one solution: Library rules for the world. Every time you walked into a school, a medical clinic, a drug store, a barbershop, an office, an airplane, a train, or a government building, you should see a sign that read: Make Good Choices, Lower Your Voices.

The Good Doctor

Get to know Dr. Anthony Fauci, a brilliant communicator. He knows how to connect the dots. He knows how to adapt and collaborate with different interest groups.

Face masks have become a symbol of the pandemic era---a visual metaphor for the tiny, unseen viral foe that could be lurking around any corner.
