People interest me. I will tell you why. Interesting people rarely lead orderly, simple lives. People are endlessly complicated, unpredictable, but fascinating. The world we live is endlessly surprising. Every day is a peculiar day. We are influenced subconsciously and to some extent consciously by what we see others do and approve. Through keen observation, insight, and personal experience we discover in our own peculiar ways that only a few people are natural, trustworthy, and reliable. At the same time, we also discover that most people are pale imitations or actors, one way or another. Once upon a time the big ate small. Now the fast eats the slow. The real world is a pretty brutal place.

In the real world, everybody wants to compete. Sometimes it builds character. People learn a lot from it. Life is war. We spend all our time either getting ready for it or doing it in peculiar ways. Once upon a time, meeting people with impeccable character, right attitude, and compassion wasn’t that difficult. Today they are an endangered species.

Truth be told, no two people are alike. As a general guideline, your eye and soul should be the most important judge.

This book is a short, twitter-like biography of you, me, and the world we live.  It’s a series of observations that I hope will provoke conversations, because it matters. I am sure you will enjoy reading—and even, perhaps, rereading. It’s about us.
