In a major step forward for ethical sourcing, the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) has completed its inaugural sale of fully traceable, artisanally mined rough diamonds from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Done under the umbrella of the OrigemA initiative, this first-ever tender consisted of 103.77 carats of diamonds recovered from the Kasai region. The primary goal of the initiative is to connect local artisanal miners directly with the global market, ensuring they receive fair market access and equitable value for their labor.
