The island of Palmarola is a protected nature reserve celebrated as one of the world's most beautiful and pristine destinations. While it remains largely uninhabited most of the year, it serves as a summer sanctuary for residents of nearby Ponza, who retreat to traditional cave houses to escape the seasonal crowds. Beyond these unique dwellings, the island's only other structures are clustered around Cala del Porto—Palmarola's sole landing point—which is home to the O’Francese Restaurant and Guest House.
