In 200, a field in Sussex became the site of the Millennium Seed Bank, a project to protect plant diversity by storing seeds. After 25 years, the Seed Bank holds more than 2.5 billion seeds from over 40000 plant species, working with over 275 partners across nearly 100 countries and territories.
