Precious stones are portable and compact forms of wealth. This has made gemstones popular during times of political unrest, for they provide a perfect means of moving wealth across the borders. Gem trade has a long history of secrecy and intrigue with much business throughout the world conducted off the books. Business will be as usual in Swat Valley, Pakistan.
