D-Screen Technology
HRD Antwerp has released D-Screen, an affordable device able to distinguish natural from synthetic colorless or near-colorless polished diamonds. It's available to all diamond bourses worldwide. The D-Screen indicates if a polished diamond is natural and has not been subjected to color enhancement. Synthetic diamonds and diamonds subjected to a high pressure-high temperature (HPHT) treatment are instantly detected. The technology used is based on optical measurement, by projecting shortwave ultraviolet (UV) radiation through the diamond. The D-Screen's range covers all polished diamonds from 0.2 carats up to 10 carats in the colours D to J. This encompasses the bulk of gem-grade diamonds.
