The National Gallery is to stage its first exhibition dedicated exclusively to fakes and mistakes – and, its director insists, they can be a pure joy. I agree. It's not a bad idea to have fakes. It's important to know how clever forgers can be + learn how to identify them. Hats off to Nicholas Penny!
